One person has died after and another is pinned in a vehicle with serious injuries after an accident on Strickland Bridge Road in Fayetteville Thursday morning.
The accident happened around 7:15 a.m., just past Jenna Shane Drive.
According to Fayetteville Police, a Dodge pick-up truck with three passengers was traveling outbound Strickland Bridge Road when the driver swerved around a bicyclist causing the truck to crash into an on-coming Chevrolet Impala.
The driver of the Impala, Tara Thompson, died at the scene. Thompson's daughter, 11-year-old Shanice Thompson, was extracted from the vehicle and taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with serious injuries.
All three passengers of the pick-up truck -- Johnnie Clint Nabours, 36-year-old Mariano Vazques and 30-year-old Pedro Santos -- are being treated at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. There's no word on the extent of their injuries.
The bicyclist, 18-year-old Blayne Ritter, did not suffer any injuries.
Bridge Road at Jenna Shane Drive and Larwood Drive was closed for some time.
